Volunteer

volunteersWe are so grateful for the wonderful volunteers. We refer to them as VIPs because that is just what they are! (Volunteers Impacting Participants.)  Through HorseFriends, you will have the opportunity to enhance the life of an individual who has a special need.

We welcome any individual 15 years or older who is interested in working directly with the horses or our participants. Whether you are old or young, a professional horseperson, or have little or no experience with horses, we would love to have you as a part of our ministry.

We hold regular training sessions for eligible volunteers. Our training focuses on safety for riders and horses. If interested, we train our VIPs how to be horse leaders and handlers for our program. To be a horse leader and handler, you need to have worked with horses for at least 2 consecutive years. If you are interested in sidewalking, we will train you even if you have never before been around a horse! We hold trainings RAIN or SHINE, so dress for the weather. Everyone should wear closed toed shoes that they don’t mind getting dirty.

HorseFriends also needs volunteers that are interested in fundraising, party planning, and grant research/grant writing.
